Our National Parks

Our Social Media Maven and newest member of the Ask Gina & Company team, Sarah, shares a testimonial involving our National Parks in the hope that visitors will be able to enjoy them again soon.

Our National Parks

We here at AGC feel continually blessed to be residents of Northern Virginia. Loudoun County’s phenomenal school district, ever growing wine country, and easy access to city life make it a suburban paradise. While NOVA is a great place to live, experiencing its neighboring wilderness, specifically our National Parks, can be a welcomed change and we’re not going to let the government shutdown bring us down.  When we do not have access to exceptional places such as Great Falls and Shenandoah National Park, it is necessary to reflect on how we have enjoyed our natural sanctuaries in the past and why they are so important.

It was not long after my November (2012) move to Purcellville, Virginia that I conquered the Old Rag trail in Shenandoah National Park. I was hiking with a friend who I had not seen in fifteen years and our mutual affinity for the great outdoors made it seem as if no time had passed. We shared stories on how our lives had developed since grade school and the end of the hike was accompanied by feelings of accomplishment, appreciation for the beauty in our backyard, and gratitude for our newly flourished friendship. The views in Shenandoah are immaculate and I am ready to behold the beautiful backdrops once again.

If you just can’t wait for the government to sort out our finances, Shenandoah State Park, as well as the rest of Virginia’s state parks, is open to visitors. Please feel free to comment with stories of how you have enjoyed our National and State Parks, from the WO&D to Skyline Drive.
