2011 Home Design Trends

2011 Home Design Trends

Thinking about updating your home before you list it on the Loudoun County Real Estate market? Then you may want to check out the top 2011 Home Design Trends for kitchen and baths as determined by the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA)! Check out the list below and try to incorporate some of these new trends into your design:

Kitchen:

• Dark Finishes – a darker hue is now preferred over the medium, natural glazed phase that was so popular in the past.

• A Place for Wine – Unchilled wine storage is in demand while wine refrigerators are in decline.

• Bonjour Refrigerator – the french door style refrigerator is the most specified type of fridge by member of the NKBA. Side-by-Side designs are also in demand.

• Inducting a New Cooktop – While gas and electric cooktops still top the list, induction cooktops are gaining ground.

• LED Lighting – Energy efficient lighting options are on the rise.

• Trashy Designs – Location and access of a trash can is considered more and more and solutions such as trash pull-out cabinets and trash compactors are being implemented.

Bath:

• Quartz Countertops – While granite countertops remain the number one selection for a bathroom, quartz is closing the gap.

• Green Bathrooms – Yes, the color green is now a top color selection for bathrooms coming in just behind white’s, off white’s, and beige's.

• A Worthy Vessel – Vessel sinks are rising in popularity and come in second only to under-mount sinks.

• Satin Nickel Faucets – This is a great choice for both the bathroom and kitchen in addition to other choices such as bronze and stainless steel.
