Fun Fact! Did you know that 200 years ago, Leesburg, Virginia, became the capital of the United States?
You may remember from your history books in elementry school that the US declared war on the British in the year of 1812 to be known as the War of 1812. During the war, the British burned the capital in Washington, D.C.; so for a brief period of time, Leesburg, Virginia, was named the capital of the Unites States.
Over the weekend, the town of Leesburg celebrated the first day of Fall and the bicentenial anniversary of the War of 1812 with a big event in Ida Lee Park. Many local residents enjoyed welcoming in the autumn air of the Blue Ridge mountains with musical performances by Loudoun Symphony Orchestra while enjoying local fair from the popular Jimmy John's and NC Ribs.
