Spring Ahead, Change Your Batteries

This Sunday is Daylights Saving Time – yes, time again to lose an hour of sleep! As you prepare to change your clocks, the Loudoun County Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Management department reminds you to check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide units. Replace batteries, check expiration dates, and dust off any dirt or debris that may be on or surrounding your alarms. Also, it is important to be aware that hardwired and battery operated smoke alarms should be replaced every ten years.

In an effort to provide peace of mind and safety, the “Put a Finger on It” campaign will provide FREE home inspections and smoke alarms to all residents of Loudoun County. Remember, there is NO COST so do not hesitate to schedule your appointment today by calling 703-737-8093 or visit: www.loudoun.gov/smokealarms.

So change your clocks and check your smoke detectors/carbon monoxide alarms so you may sleep like a baby during those precious hours we have left!
